I can honestly say that primitive rug hooking is my niche in the fiber arts realm. With raising a family in a world that's so uncertain, and with a belief that God does make a difference, I often retreat. With tool in hand, I can sit for hours lost in my rug hooking.
Individually pulling each loop by hand through the foundation, I play with colors and design. There is a constant search for that "even better than the last one" rug. Primitive rug hooking is versatile and innovative. No two rugs are ever identical by the very nature of the hooking process.
I suppose that as long as I hook rugs, I will continue to strive for perfection in my work. But, as much as I love rug hooking, it is not my life. My wonderful husband and children are. God has blessed me beyond measure with my family. To me, they are His best for me. My kids are growing fast, and soon they will be on their own. I guess the point I am getting at is that there may be times you won't see many new rugs from me. Simply put, rug hooking is labor intensive...but then again, so is my family. For me, family is and will be my priority in this world.
If you noticed the scripture on each page of this site, I make no excuses. I am a Christian. A relationship with God is very important to me. It wasn't always like that. I have had my share of woes, rebellion, and heartaches...but let's not tell our sad stories now. I do not consider myself to be religious, but as one who has a love and respect for my Creator. I'm a Jesus-freak of sorts. In my opinion, life is too short and too unpredictable not to know God. And, I can assure you God knows all about me and loves me even more!
